About Emerson

On June 28, 2010 our lives were turned upside down. Our 18 month old daughter, Emerson, nearly drowned in our backyard pool. Emerson was not breathing and had no pulse. She was rushed to the nearest hospital where by the grace of God and the help of the medical staff they were able to revive her.

Emerson was transferred to Children's Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana where she spent 5 months fighting for her life. Emerson sustained a tramatic brain injury but more specifically an anoxic brain injury. She lost all mental and physical function. She could no longer walk, talk, crawl, roll over, sit, eat by mouth, cry, smile, or move voluntarily.

Emerson has made many gains while in the hospital and being home now for 3 months thanks to Children's Hospital and the healings of God. She can now cry (a lot), roll to her side unassisted, smile occasionally, has head control for several minutes at a time, eating size 3 baby food, has greater ability to track objects and people, and has decreased muscle tone.

Our family is very blessed to have so many people praying for her and us and we couldn't thank everyone enough. My husband and I are determined to do whatever it takes to help Emerson have the best quality of life!

Since there is no real standard of care for tramatic brain injury or anoxic brain injury, in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech threapy, we must rely on alternative therapies and treatments for greater gains and improvements so Emerson can have a better quality of life.

This auction is a first for us and is a way for us to begin these treatments and therapies that are not covered by insurance to provide Emerson with what she needs. Our family is deicated to doing whatever it takes for our sweet baby girl.

Thanks for all of your thoughts, prayers, love, and support.

Love,
The Deans
